Back to Wisconsin from Mexico

2018.  January. Just returned from an amazing trip to rural Mexico in to the mountains and coffee farms.  Beautiful landscape and good people to know all around.
Will be trying to add more here again.  Can't believe that a year has passed since last post.  So much has changed.  I have left teaching at the University and now will be doing my art.

SketchCrawls - good to do!

SketchCrawls are good to do!  Especially when you share your work with sketchers across the world.
I have just completed a short sprint with the 51st WorldWide Sketch crawl this week.  Wanted to sketch more, but I did not have time, so I fit in what I could.  A nice day to be out on a bike downtown in the square.
See posts at :  http://www.sketchcrawl.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=13298

A past activity.

It was neat to see that I had my sketchbook on display in 2013 at the school that my son, Brian, graduated from - - Winter Park, FL  Full Sail University  This being among other exhibits, including Los Angeles (where my two sons lived, until Nathan moved to Cleveland in 2017) and London in October and Melbourne, Australia in November.  After the world tour, the sketchbooks will all reside in Brooklyn, New York at the Brooklyn Art Library.

New Start to an Old Blog

Welcome to my redo and new start to an older blog.

I was not able to get into a Blog that I started a few years ago, so this is an update.  I would like to share thoughts on Design and Sketching, so here is another start.

This is a link to the older blog, Design Sketchinghttp://designsketching.blogspot.com/
Since this one is related, I used the same name and added 2.

The New York City Brooklyn Art Library has one of my travel sketchbooks from Italy, with a digital link online: https://www.sketchbookproject.com/library/S71251 (2022 note - they have since moved to Florida).

A last note for this post - one of my memorable sketchers is Enrico Casarosa, who also did the Pixar short animation film, La Luna.  I first saw his work online when he was blogging about his travel in Venice - now a book, the Venice Chronicles.   There is a Venice Chronicles Flickr site where you can view a set of the pages too.  I am most impressed with his legacy in the start of the WorldWide SketchCrawl (search the Forum area for the current sketchcrawl event), which I like to participate in every year. Here is a link to his first SketchCrawl with narrative:http://www.enricocasarosa.com/sketchcrawl.html    and a link to his Second SketchCrawl with Colleagues http://www.enricocasarosa.com/sketchcrawl2.html    and some 2004 miscellaeous sketches by Enrico.
